Dr Kate Ryan, Counselling Psychologist
Dr Kate Ryan, has worked across both NHS and private settings, with particular experience in addiction services, including alcohol, substance, and behavioural addictions. Alongside this, Dr Ryan specialises in working with eating disorders, ADHD, and borderline personality disorder, and has extensive experience supporting individuals with complex and comorbid presentations, including trauma and relational difficulties.
Dr Ryan’s approach is integrative, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic models to tailor treatment to each individual. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Person-Centred Therapy, and also draws on psychodynamic theory to deepen understanding of unconscious processes and relational patterns.
She works in a collaborative and proactive way, placing strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a vehicle for meaningful change. The aim to create a space that is both containing and dynamic, where patients feel understood, while also being supported to develop practical strategies, insight, and long-term resilience. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Dr Ryan works flexibly and responsively, adapting interventions to suit each person’s needs, goals, and pace.
Dr Ryan works with both adults and adolescents, supporting patients to better understand themselves, navigate difficulties, and create lasting, meaningful change.
